Local SCILL Students Advance to State Competition

SCILL Automotive Program students competed in the Skills USA competition at the Elkhart Career Center this past weekend.

Students competing in the Automotive Service Technology category were Luke Lloyd, Jacob Gebka and Macy Wissig of North Judson-San Pierre High School. Wayne Flora of John Glenn High School, Mitchell Powell of Triton High School and Derrick Shepherd of Knox High School also competed in the Automotive Service Technology category.

SCILL Welding Program students competed at the Boilermaker Training Facility in Hobart, Indiana. Students competing in the Individual Welding category were William Quesenberry of North Judson-San Pierre High School and Matthew Francis of Oregon-Davis High School.

Nine students competed in the Welding Fabrication Team category which consisted of three teams of three students. Dominick Lovins, Jack Grenner, Reece Pingel, Colten Everage, Landen Cole and Jose Jimenez of Knox Community High School competed as well as Janessa Moore of Oregon-Davis High School and also Blane Howard and Nathan Pruitt of North Judson-San Pierre High School.

Students advancing to State Competition are William Quesenberry of North Judson-San Pierre, and Dominick Lovins, Jack Grenner, Reece Pingel, Hayden Minix and Camdon Hickman of Knox will all be competing in the Welding Sculpture Competition.

The Skills USA State Competition will be held in Indianapolis from April 14th through the15th.
