The Pulaski County Commissioners and Council heard an update on the housing project during their joint meeting Monday.
Pulaski County Community Development Commission (CDC) Executive Director Nathan Origer addressed the commissioners and council. He said the development site originally planned for the south side of Winamac has raised some procedural and process issues.
Origer stated the 25 to 30 acres owned by the county immediately to the north, northwest and west of the county would potentially be a better location instead of south of town. Commissioner Chuck Mellon stated issues south of town involved utilities.
It was brought to the commissioner’s attention, the land in question north of town could potentially raise some issues as well.
Commissioner Mellon stated more study should be done on the best possible location. He added no decision needed to be made during the meeting. CDC Executive Director Origer stated he would look into getting more information on the land north of town. He added they will go back to the drawing board and find the best location for the housing development project.
