The Starke County Commissioners heard about a Local Road Safety Plan during their meeting this week.
Starke County Highway Superintendent Dan Dipert informed the commissioners of what a Local Road Safety Plan does in terms of helping the county.
A Local Road Safety Plan provides a framework for organizing and prioritizing roadway safety improvements on local and rural roads. The process of developing a Local Road Safety Plan can be tailored to local protocols, needs and issues.
Superintendent Dipert said he believes this would open the county up to good opportunities when it comes to roadway safety. He went on to say a ballpark estimate for the Local Road Safety Plan is between $35,000 and $45,000. He said he would have a more concrete estimate at their next meeting.
Dipert said he would like to use ARPA funds toward the Local Road Safety Plan. The commissioners took the report under advisement and plan to discuss this at their next meeting.
