The Knox Community School Board approved withdrawing from the JESSE Cooperative during their meeting last week.
It was previously announced that Plymouth Community School Corporation is withdrawing from the JESSE Cooperative which leaves the organization without a Local Education Agency (LEA) and none of the eight other schools in the cooperative have decided to accept that role.
The nine participating schools within JESSE are Culver Community School Corporation, Argos Community Schools, John Glenn School Corporation, Knox Community School Corporation, North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation, Oregon-Davis School Corporation, Plymouth Community School Corporation, Triton School Corporation, and the Union-North United School Corporation.
A resolution to amend the JESSE agreement bylaws allowing a corporation wanting to withdraw to receive its portion from the remainder of the fund balance within JESSE was approved in February. Prior to this amended agreement, the funds would have simply stayed with the JESSE Cooperative.
During their meeting last week, the board approved withdrawing from JESSE. The 2023-2024 school year will be the final year Knox School Corporation is part of the cooperative.
At this time it is expected JESSE will dissolve due to other schools within the cooperative withdrawing as well.
