The Starke County Commissioners approved the purchase of a mounted mower during their meeting last week.
Starke County Highway Superintendent Dan Dipert informed the commissioners he had received two bids for a mid mount 60-inch mower that would attach to one of their current tractors. He said there was a difference of $6,150 between the bids. The two bids were from Diamond and Tiger. Tiger was mentioned as the more expensive bid.
Dipert said when it came to wear and tear on the machinery, Tiger was the better brand.
The commissioners discussed the options briefly, then made a motion to approve the bid from Tiger. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
