The Pulaski County Tribe continues its community enhancement effort to revitalize the area on the west side of the swinging bridge at the Winamac Town Park.
Several projects have been completed since the Pulaski County Tribe initiated their efforts in the fall of 2021. Aesthetic improvements to the historic artesian well structure have been done as well as an interpretive sign featuring the history of the well. Two bench swings have been added as well as the installation of permanent art exhibits including two small canvas murals.
The artwork was commissioned through local artist Patrick Pitcher and funded by a grant provided by the Indiana Arts Commission. The community was able to provide input and help PCT choose the artwork subject matter.
PCT volunteers have spent many hours picking up debris, removing overgrowth, power washing, staining, painting, planting and planning. Phase 1 has been well-received and resulted in increased utilization of the west side of the park. PCT is pursuing additional efforts to further enhance this public space.
Phase 2 has plans for the cultivation of a pollinator garden, tree planting and installation of additional artwork.
