Knox Athletic Director Resigns

Knox Community School Corporation Athletic Director Richard Warren has resigned.

Athletic Director Warren confirmed the news with WKVI and released this statement. “My time at Knox has been rewarding, and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to serve as athletic director. I have many fond memories of our successes, and couldn’t be more proud of our student-athletes’ impact on the field of play, academically, and within the community. My wife and I are expecting our first child this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited. With that said, I am looking to be more present and readily available as a husband and soon to be father. With the amount of time needed to successfully serve as AD, I felt it was in our family’s best interest for me to accept an opportunity that presented a more ideal work-life balance. We will be cheering for Redskin Nation from afar, and always be proud supporters of Knox Athletics.”

Warren went on to say, “Thank you to the community for welcoming us, and for celebrating along with us throughout this past year. We will always hold the community in our heart and have a special affinity for the friendships we are blessed with. A special thank you to the student-athletes, coaches, Dr. Reichhart, Mr. Barnes, Mr. Estok, Amy Webb, John and Jenny Tow, Julie Farus, Meda Sullivan, Carrie Stone, game day staff, the school board, and our entire custodial department. I appreciate each of you and the constant support and teamwork you’ve provided on a daily basis.”

Knox Community School Corporation Interim Superintendent Ross Sloat confirmed with WKVI News, the search for a new Athletic Director is underway. Sloat stated the job has been posted online and the corporation is currently accepting applications. He added the corporation is sad to see Mr. Warren leave but happy for him in his decision and wish him the best.

Athletic Director Richard Warren’s final day will be Friday, July 14th.
