The Knox Board of Public of Works opened bids for the 50/50 Sidewalk program during their meeting last week.
Knox Mayor Dennis Estok told WKVI News the lowest bid was awarded in the amount of $56,000 from MH Construction for the 13 projects submitted. The Mayor stated the city will split the cost of new sidewalks with qualified owners who submitted their request to the mayor’s office on time during the application period.
Mayor Estok stated the city will be sending notices to landowners alerting them of the cost for their share of the project. He said landowners will have two weeks to decide if they would like to go through with the sidewalk project or not. If they decide not to go through with the project the total cost of the sidewalk project would be less than anticipated. Mayor Estok said the city is obligated to pay half the total amount whatever it comes out to be.
