The Starke County Commissioners discussed the re-establishment of the Cumulative Bridge Fund during their meeting Monday.
Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich told WKVI News the Cumulative Bridge Fund was at 0.0160 in 2022 but for 2023 it went to 0.00. She added this was due to so much surplus in the fund, the tax rate of 0.0160 funded the County General Fund. The re-establishment would place the taxes that they collect from that tax rate in 2024 back into the Cumulative Bridge Fund.
The commissioners agreed to consider this for approval at their next meeting on Monday, May 15.
