The Starke County Commissioners opened two bids Monday for the proposed Community Crossings Matching Grant project 2023-01. The project will go towards the county’s chip seal program for roadways throughout Starke County.
Milestone Contractors North, Inc. out of South Bend bid $1,268,192.40 and Central Paving Inc. out of Logansport submitted a bid of $1,071,899.25.
Starke County received $1,000,000 for the project from INDOT’s Community Crossings Matching Grant Program. With expected match money that comes from the county’s CEDIT fund, there will be enough funds to cover all costs of the project.
Highway Superintendent Dan Dipert reviewed the bid documents and recommended the commissioners award the bid to Central Paving Inc.
The commissioners approved the bid from Central Paving Inc. with a unanimous vote.
