The Hamlet Town Council was given an update on the Starke Street project during their meeting Wednesday.
The process of removing old sidewalks, pavement and the addition of new sidewalks, asphalt paving and seeding of new grass is still on schedule to be completed. It was announced fresh pavement would be laid yesterday and should be finished today.
The project is being done through an Indiana Department of Transportation Community Crossings Matching Grant.
The town council had applied for the grant in August of 2022. The project on South Starke Street will be from Pearl Street to Indiana Street.
Milestone Contractors North was awarded a bid of $70,354 for the project.
