The Knox City Council discussed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds during their meeting last week.
Knox Mayor Dennis Estok told WKVI News the city received about $800,000 for their ARPA funds. He added the city has spent some of the money with the Water and Sewer Department on projects the city needed to have done according to passed ordinances.
Mayor Estok stated the ARPA funds now sit at $644,644.61. He said he expects much of the remaining money to go toward the Water and Sewer Department as well. He added that the city’s infrastructure is very important.
Estok said the council plans to use $300,000 of the remaining balance to apply for a matching grant from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) this fall. He stated the grant would go toward several water projects involving the purchase of a new well and the replacement of water lines.
