The Starke County Commissioners approved the appointment of a new Starke County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director during their meeting Monday.
In a previous meeting, the commissioners made a motion to appoint Jerry Smith to be the next EMS Director. Smith was slated to take over for former Starke County EMS Director Larry Brock who was terminated by the commissioners on May 15. Smith’s first official day was scheduled for June 5 but it was announced during Monday’s meeting he had declined the appointment.
The commissioners then made a motion to appoint James Garner as Starke County’s new EMS Director. That motion was seconded and was approved unanimously by vote. It was announced his first official day was June 9 but approval on the new hire was made Monday.
