The Knox Board of Public of Works gave an update on the 50/50 Sidewalk program during their last meeting.
Knox Mayor Dennis Estok told WKVI News three properties have decided to have their sidewalk redone as part of the 50/50 program. In a previous meeting, the lowest bid was awarded in the amount of $56,000 from MH Construction for the 13 projects submitted. The Mayor stated the city will split the cost of new sidewalks with qualified owners who submitted their request to the mayor’s office on time during the application period.
Mayor Estok stated the city sent notices to the applied landowners alerting them of the cost for their share of the project. Mayor Estok mentioned of the 13 submitted projects, only three have agreed to the program. Mayor Estok stated due to 10 landowners deciding to not go through with the project, the total cost for the city’s portion is much less than anticipated. He said that amount has now changed to $10,250.
Mayor Estok stated the 50/50 sidewalk project is underway.
