The Knox City Council discussed applying for round two of street paving through a Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) during their meeting last week.
Each year, the city of Knox applies for a CCMG. If awarded, the grant enables cities to choose streets within their community that need updated. The list of streets under consideration were not announced.
Knox Mayor Dennis Estok stated the city plans on applying for a $335,000, 25 percent matching grant. He added the city will know if they have been awarded the grant by late October or early November of this year. He went on to say the council wont be able to bid out the project until the grant has been received.
It was mentioned if the city is awarded the matching grant, repaving could begin as soon as spring of 2024.
