Knox City Council Approves Stop Signs on Main Street

The Knox City Council discussed adding stop signs to Main Street during their meeting Tuesday.

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok stated this has been a topic the council has discussed for several years. He added many complaints of individuals speeding down Main Street have been received.

It was proposed two stop signs be added to Main Street. The first stop sign mentioned would be placed at the intersection of Main and Potter Street. The second would be placed at the intersection of Main and Delaware Street making both areas a four-way stop.

Mayor Estok went on to say in addition to the new stop signs, more speed limit signs would be put in place down Main Street as well. He entertained a motion to approve the two stop signs on Potter and Delaware Streets along with added speed limit signs on Main. A motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously by vote.

It was announced there isn’t a definitive date on when the stop signs will go up but Mayor Estok said they will be in place before school starts in August.
