Knox Community School Corporation Hires Next Superintendent

Knox Community School Corporation’s New Superintendent Greg Mikulich

The Knox Community School Corporation has officially hired their new superintendent.

The school board approved the hire of Greg Mikulich during their meeting Monday. This came seven days after the board held a public hearing on Mr. Mikulich’s contract.

The approved basic salary is $120,000 with the board’s contribution of health, vision and dental insurance costs, along with long-term disability insurance, term life insurance, tax sheltered annuity, and Social Security. The superintendent will receive 15 days of paid vacation per year, and 11 paid holidays.

Each board member welcomed Mikulich and his family to the corporation. It was noted by several individual board members they appreciate Mikulich’s energy and willingness to hit the ground running.

In a previous meeting, the board approved an administrative contract for Mikulich in efforts for him to become the next superintendent pending the public hearing and approval. It was mentioned he has already been working with Interim Superintendent Ross Sloat and the administrative staff for a smooth transition.

When asked about his decision to apply for the position at Knox, Mikulich stated, “I visited Knox and the first thing I noticed was the great facilities that they had. When I was here I thought, this is a place I would love to be at. So I threw the application in just to see what would happen and after my first interview I was so excited I called my wife and said this is the place. I was sold from day one.”

Mikulich went on to say, “I look forward to meeting everybody. I have everything on my calendar of when the families and community will be here. I’m going to get out there and meet new people. I think my message to them is don’t be afraid to come in and introduce yourself because I look forward to getting to know everybody.”

The board also thanked Interim Superintendent Ross Sloat for his work through the summer. Sloat mentioned he appreciated the administrative staff and is glad he could be of service. Sloat’s final day will be July 31 and Mikulich’s first official day as Superintendent of Knox Community School Corporation is August 1.
