The Knox School Board discussed the 2023-2024 Student Handbook during their meeting last week.
School Board Vice President Autumn Ferch made a motion to amend the handbook as presented. She stated she would like to see both the middle and high school’s student handbooks be identical.
It was noted the current middle school handbook is different from the high school’s when it comes to the second offense of students being caught with a cell phone. It was also mentioned the high school handbook states if a student is caught with a cell phone for a second offense, the phone is taken away from the student, placed in the front office and detention is served.
The proposed amendment would word the second cell phone offense at the middle school to read identical as the high school’s handbook. Ferch’s motion was seconded after discussion. The school board approved the amendment to the student handbook unanimously.
School Board President Kirk Bennett then entertained a motion to approve the amended 2023-2024 Student Handbook. A motion was made and seconded with the school board passing the amended student handbook unanimously by vote.
