The Starke County Commissioners discussed purchasing two vehicles for the Sheriff’s Department during their meeting earlier this month.
Sheriff Jack Rosa received three separate quotes from Bosak Motors of Merrillville and one online quote from CarGurus. The first quote from Bosak mentioned was for a 5.7 Liter V8 Dodge Durango in the amount of $41,351.25. The second quote from Bosak was a 3.6 Liter V6 Dodge Durango in the amount of $38,556.23. The third quote from Bosak was a Dodge Charger that came in at just above $34,000. The final quote mentioned was from CarGurus in the amount of $40,500 for a Ford Explorer.
Sheriff Rosa mentioned the Dodge Durango is much easier to use with the their equipment and would be the better option for the Sheriff’s Department. Commissioner Don Binkley made a motion to approve the purchase of two 3.6 Liter V6 Dodge Durangos in the amount of $38,556.23 apiece from Bosak Motors. That motion was seconded by Commissioner Mark Gourley and passed unanimously by vote. It was noted the funds for the purchase will come out of the county’s Cumulative Capital Fund.
