The Starke County Commissioners were updated on the Mammoth Solar project as well as the Highway Department during their meeting Monday.
Starke County Highway Superintendent Dan Dipert informed the commissioners 27 percent of the total amount of panels needed for the Mammoth project have been delivered. He added 14 percent of the panels have been installed.
Dipert went on to inform the commissioners his department is fully staffed. He added they currently have 17 full-time drivers, six part-time drivers and three mechanics.
Dipert told WKVI News, as Highway Superintendent for the past two years, his department hasn’t been fully staffed like this. He added five of the full-time drivers that have been hired are women and that Starke County leads the state in women drivers. That is something he believes the county should be proud of.
Dipert said Starke County gives equal employment opportunities and this is just one of those instances.
