The Starke County Council discussed requesting an appointment to the Fair Board and 4-H Council during their meeting Monday.
It was noted the council has various board appointments throughout Starke County but they don’t have representation on the Starke County Fair Board or the Starke County 4-H Council. Council President Dave Pearman stated he would like to see the council have representation on the Fair Board and 4-H Council in efforts to help make the Starke County Fair better. He added he had received many calls of concern after this years fair.
Several council members agreed they would like to get involved in hopes they are able to create a bigger turnout. It was noted the council did not want to appoint someone that would only show up to vote on important maters pertaining to the Starke County Fair. They made clear they would like to appoint someone that will be involved with the Fair Board and 4-H Council throughout the year leading up to the event.
Council President Dave Pearman made a motion to request the Fair Board and the 4-H Council discuss and approve a county council appointment to their board and council. That motion was seconded and passed by vote with 1 abstention by Starke County Council member Cassandra Hine.
Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich told WKVI News, the council will now wait for a response from the Fair Board and the 4-H Council regarding the council’s appointment request.
