The Starke County Commissioners heard from EMS Director James Garner during their meeting last week.
Director Garner announced the EMS Department is fully staffed at their Knox base and have had staffing at two ALS bases at 33 percent for the month of July. He stated they are currently still operating non transport vehicles on a 24 hour basis as needed to supplement the staff. He said they did receive a variant to allow a waiver for EMR drivers to work with paramedics that Director Garner says has alleviated the workload for staff members.
Garner said there are no full time openings for EMT’s at this time. He stated they have three part time applications available as well as four paramedic openings.
