The Starke County Commissioners heard an update from Community Services of Starke County during their meeting last week.
Community Services of Starke County Executive Director Cindy Benke informed the commissioners a compliance letter with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) had been received. As of now, Benke stated food pantry members went up and that Community Services of Starke County has served 769 more people than previously recorded.
Benke went on to say they are always looking for more donations and that canned soup is something they are in need of at this particular time. With Thanksgiving around the corner, Benke reminded the commissioners of their upcoming annual Radiothon featured on WKVI November 10.
Last year, the Community Services of Starke County raised $18,600 during the Radiothon. That money went on to help with different focus areas including expenses, elderly services, food pantry, and many other helpful programs offered to the community.
The commissioners thanked Executive Director Benke on her report.
