The Starke County Commissioners heard proposed solar ordinance revisions during their meeting last week.
Citizens Against Progressive Solar (C.A.P.S) representatives Roberta Lee and Alisha Rios proposed to the commissioners many revisions to the current solar ordinance in Starke County. It was mentioned a moratorium or even a cap on the amount of acreage allowed in Starke County is something C.A.P.S would be in favor of and hope the commissioners would consider.
The commissioners informed the representatives from C.A.P.S they would need to bring their proposed revisions to the Starke County Planning Commission for them to then report their findings back to the commissioners. The commissioners were then told, C.A.P.S had already been before the planning commission and were told to go before the commissioners instead.
The commissioners then entertained setting up a joint session with the planning commission to go over the proposed revisions with C.A.P.S. Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich told WKVI News she is in the process of getting a date set for both the commissioners and the planning commission to meet with C.A.P.S. At this time, both the commissioners and the planning commission plan to hear the proposed changes from C.A.P.S for consideration in revising the current solar ordinance.
