The Starke County Commissioners and Council both heard from Surf Internet during their meetings Monday.
It was announced Surf Internet is already bringing broadband internet to the town of North Judson and the City of Knox. Those projects are currently underway but Surf isn’t wanting to stop there.
Scott Franco of Surf Internet was present during both the commissioner and council meetings to express interest in providing broadband internet to the Koontz Lake area. He stated just like the previous projects going on in North Judson and Knox, Surf will walkout the Koontz Lake area to assist in design and preparation of burying all broadband internet cables. It was also mentioned they will run broadband internet cables to each home that opts in for service during installation.
It was mentioned Surf Internet locates sewer, water, gas and electric lines before the project would begin. It was also mentioned just like in North Judson and Knox, prospective customers could generally expect to pay $35 a month for 50 megabits, $55 a month for 100 megabits, $70 a month for 500 megabits and $85 a month for 1 gigabit.
No action was taken by the commissioners or council as this was a formal update on the current projects Surf Internet is doing in Starke County. As of now there is no exact date on when the Koontz Lake project will begin.
