The Winamac Town Council discussed the town’s golf cart ordinance during last week’s meeting.
Winamac Town Manager Brad Zellers told WKVI News the council discussed the weight limits in the current ordinance. A 48-pound weight minimum was in Winamac’s golf cart ordinance, based on Indiana State Police guidelines.
Zellers said the council was in favor of taking the weight limit out of the ordinance. He stated the council wanted to give police officers the ability to use their discretion on who is not following the ordinance during their patrols.
Zellers said a motion was made and seconded. He added the council approved taking the weight limit out of the town’s golf cart ordinance unanimously by vote.
