Starke County Commissioners Discuss Auditor Office Update

The Starke County Commissioners considered arranging extra office space for the auditor’s office during their meeting Monday.

Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich informed commissioners there is not a separate room or space currently available for prospective employees to use. She added those going through the hiring process are asked to take a drug screen and provide private information in the auditor’s office where there is no privacy.

Oesterreich stated she had already spoken with Director of Maintenance Ricky Green about the project. She added he could have the space made available and do the work himself during regular business hours. She added the project would be done some time this winter and the cost of materials came in at $2,000. A motion was made to approve the arrangement of office space. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote. It was announced the $2,000 would come from the Cumulative Capital Development Fund next year.
