The Starke County Council discussed an opioid funding request during their meeting Monday.
Starke County Court Services Director Shawn Mattraw formally requested for the council’s approval to utilize $50,000 of the restricted funds from the opioid settlement fund. Mattraw explained this would allow them to continue their services with Licensed Social Worker (LSW) Tim Gearhart for the calendar year of 2024. Mattraw explained, Gearhart oversees their drug treatment program. He added Gearhart would work eight hours a week for court services.
A motion was made to approve the utilization of $50,000 of restricted funds from the opioid settlement fund to Starke County Court Services. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
