The Knox City Council announced the city was awarded a Community Crossings Matching Grant during their Meeting Tuesday.
City of Knox Mayor Dennis Estok announced the grant was awarded in the amount of $386,981.25. In a follow up interview, Mayor Estok told WKVI News this matching grant awarded will go toward resurfacing city streets mostly in the Park View Heights area. He added within the last eight years the city has resurfaced 17 miles of the 24 total within the City of Knox. This particular grant will give the city 75 percent of the total cost of the project with the city having to pay the remaining 25 percent.
Mayor Estok stated the city will bid out the project in the coming weeks. He estimates the resurfacing project will begin sometime in the spring of 2024 after the council has approved a bid received in a future meeting.
