The Pulaski County Council discussed board meeting pay and responsibilities of attending during their meeting Monday.
Pulaski County Council President Ken Boswell stated the main scope of the pay range is equal across the board with the exception of the clerk’s election board which has already been approved. Boswell went on to say, currently some Pulaski County boards still pay its members for when they don’t attend and some boards do not. He added he would like to have the council discuss what they can do in efforts to standardize the process to help make the auditor’s job in terms of paying board members easier.
Several council members agreed if board members aren’t attending meetings, they shouldn’t be paid. Council President Ken Boswell added while there are times someone may be sick or unable to attend due to other issues, he agrees that if you don’t attend, a member shouldn’t be paid for that missed meeting.
After much discussion, the council decided to do more research on the proper way to go about paying each board member throughout the county. The council tabled the discussion in hopes council members bring ideas to a future meeting on how to properly pay board members throughout Pulaski County.
