The Pulaski County Council heard a courthouse update during their meeting Monday.
Pulaski County Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer explained to the council that bids for the various categories within the courthouse project were opened by commissioners last week. He stated Tonn and Blank Construction is currently reviewing each bid and will potentially have adjustments to the project plans and incoming feedback from sub contractors before they award some of the categories outright.
Origer stated Tonn and Blank may award some bids with project scope modifications and also put some out to re bid in hopes of a better price. He added there are a number of line items in the budget where the county’s percentage is based on the bids. He went on to say because there are some line items in the non construction part of the project, an exact number to the bids that came in isn’t available due to the fact some bids will be modified and or re bid.
Origer said at this time what he can tell the council is that the bids came in higher than what the county needs them to be. He added he would be in contact with architects and Tonn and Blank this week and hopes to have a clearer picture to present to the commissioners next week during their meeting. He went on to say he would update the council as well to keep them informed on the process.
