The Starke County Commissioners discussed remodeling areas on the second floor of the courthouse during their meeting last week.
In a previous meeting, it was announced the commissioners were seeking bids for the project. During their meeting last week, it was announced two bids had been received. Starke County Director of Maintenance Rick Green stated Keener Construction and Montgomery Construction both submitted bids for the commissioner’s consideration.
It was announced Keener Construction’s bid came in at $169,250 and Montgomery Construction’s bid came in at $367,000. Green stated the commissioners would need to put forth half of the total price of the chosen bid before construction begins and the second half would be paid after the project is completed.
The commissioners made a motion to approve Keener Contruction’s bid of $169,250. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
The commissioners also discussed new office furniture as well for the second floor renovations at the courthouse. A bid of $12,039.37 from Kemp’s Office City was brought forth. The quote entailed new desks, conference tables, chairs, filling cabinets and other office furniture needed to bring the 2nd floor of the courthouse up to date. A motion was made to approve the $12,039.37 from Kemp’s Office City. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
No timeline was given on when the project would be completed.
