The Pulaski County Commissioners and Council discussed the CDC restructuring and reorganization process during their joint session Monday.
Pulaski County Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer announced they have filled all but four seats among the various commissions that they have established or rebooted this year. He added they have been struggling to fill the remaining seat on the Industrial Park Board that is legally required to be held by someone that works in organized labor within the building trades.
Origer said the other three remaining vacant seats are on the CDC itself. He stated under the new structure there must be seven members. He added one of those seats belongs to the board of commissioners. He stated Commissioner Maurice Loehmer is currently in that seat but has not said whether he would like to continue or not. Due to Commissioner Loehmer not being present at the meeting, Origer asked the commissioners to consider nominating one of themselves to fill the vacant seat or delay the process until the following meeting.
Commission President Chuck Melon stated he believes they could go ahead and nominate Commissioner Loehmer to stay on the CDC. A motion was made and seconded. The commissioners voted unanimously approving Commissioner Loehmer to the CDC. Origer then went on to explain another one of the vacant seats on the CDC is available to a Pulaski County citizen.
Origer said he has spoken with an interested individual but has not yet confirmed or denied with them on whether they would like to fill the position. He stated the final seat available belongs to the Pulaski County Council. Origer said he has had several interested individuals but believes Sheila Jimenez would bring the necessary experience to the board as they transition to the new structuring next year.
A motion was made to appoint Sheila Jimenez to the Pulaski County Council seat on the CDC. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
