The Starke County Commissioners discussed approving contracts for a park project during their meeting last week.
Starke County Park Superintendent Tracy Williams was approved earlier this year by the Starke County Council to apply for a 50/50 Matching Grant in hopes to upgrade the Bass Lake Beach House and addition of new parking lots. The 50/50 match required the county to put forth $575,000 in order to apply. That is what the council approved earlier this year and have since found out they have been awarded the grant.
Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich told WKVI News, Park Superintendent Williams hired Troyer Group to write the grant and do the design work on the project. Oesterreich added the commissioners always approve contracts for all projects within the county. The commissioners made a motion to approve the contracts for the total project. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
In other news the commissioners approved providing Starke County Court Services Director Shawn Mattraw with a key to the Annex 2 building. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
