The Knox Board of Public Works opened bids for round two of street paving through a Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) during their meeting last week.
Each year, the City of Knox applies for a CCMG. When awarded, this grant enables cities to choose streets within their community that need updated. The list of streets under consideration were not announced but the City of Knox was awarded the grant in October of 2023.
The first bid opened was from Rieth Riley in the amount of $341,905. The second bid opened was in the amount of $369,470 from E&B Paving Inc. The final bid opened came from Milestone Contractors in the amount of $421,410.
Knox Mayor Dennis Estok made a motion to approve the bid from Rieth Riley in the amount of $341,905 pending review of the bid by Street Superintendent Jeff Borg. That motion was seconded by Knox Board of Public Works member Steve Dodge. The bid was approved unanimously by vote pending review.
