Knox Mayor Dennis Estok announced there will be an open house for Police Chief Harold Smith during the Knox City Council meeting last week.
In a previous Board of Works meeting, Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith announced his retirement after serving 30 years for the Knox City Police Department. He has been Knox City Police Chief for a total of 10 years. He told the Board of Works members he put in for retirement and his retirement date will be Tuesday, January 23. The Board of Works members congratulated and thanked Chief Smith for his years of service to the community. Chief Smith said if the department ever needs help, he would fill in if needed. During last weeks Knox City Council Meeting, Mayor Estok announced Chad Dulin will take over as the new Knox City Police Chief Wednesday, January 24. He went on to say Friday, January 19 an open house for Chief Smith will be held at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. CT.
