Pulaski County Council Updated on Courthouse Project

The Pulaski County Council heard an update on the courthouse project during their meeting last week.

Pulaski County Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer announced they have made enough project revisions to bring the project within their budget while not cutting any corners. He went on to say they have since worked out the details regarding the HVAC system. Origer stated this was one of the big lingering questions as of the commissioner meeting earlier this month. He said since that time, he has spoken with Brent Smith who currently does maintenance on the county’s HVAC systems and they have worked out the exact details needed for the new system within the courthouse project.

Origer said they are also working toward presenting a primary bid along with alternate bids regarding the building’s new windows. He went on to say the architects are beginning to commit the agreed upon revisions to drawing so that the county can move forward with the rebidding process.

In a previous story, it was announced the original bids received came in about $3.5 million over where the county needed them to be. Origer has been working with Tonn and Blank to review and revise the project scope in efforts to put seven or eight bid categories out for re-bid.
