The Starke County Commissioners approved the purchase of two used vehicles for the Sheriff’s Department during their meeting Tuesday.
Starke County Sheriff Jack Rosa presented the commissioners with four options to consider purchasing for the department. He stated a recent not-at-fault accident resulted in one of their current Ford Taurus police vehicles getting t-boned at an intersection in Knox. He went on to say there are other vehicles that the department is planning on scrapping and with the money from insurance, the county general fund will be receiving money from that.
The commissioners looked over the four options and all concluded the best two available for purchase were two 2017 Ford Explorers, one with 37,704 miles for $21,995 and the other with 44,842 miles for $21,795 from Chicago Motors Inc.
A motion was made to purchase the two best options from Chicago Motors Inc. That motion was seconded and passed unanimously by vote.
