The Starke County Council discussed giving a raise to those that train paramedics and EMTs within the Emergency Management Services (EMS) Department during their meeting last week.
EMS Director James Garner informed the council, more in-house training is being conducted within the department. He added the department currently has two trainers, one for training paramedics and the other for training EMTs. He formally asked the council to approve a $0.50 per hour raise to the two individuals that are currently training. He went on to say the department already has the funding but still needs the council’s permission to move forward.
Starke County Council Vice President Todd Leinbach made a motion to increase the salary by $0.50 per hour for the paramedic and EMT trainers. Council member Bruce Bennett seconded that motion. The council unanimously approved the pay raise for the two trainers by vote.
