Pfost said once the fire was extinguished, the remaining part of the building was thoroughly checked by firefighters on the scene. He stated they remained on the scene for several hours to wait for an investigator from the Indiana Fire Marshall’s Office to arrive. An investigation was conducted to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

At this time, Pfost said the fire is believed to be accidental and the origin appears to be above the building’s porch soffit. He stated the owner’s insurance will now conduct a fire investigation of their own and will handle the matter moving forward.
