Pulaski County Commissioners and Council Updated on Courthouse Project

The Pulaski County Commissioners and Council heard an update on the courthouse project during their joint session Monday.

In a previous story, Pulaski County Community Development Commission (CDC) Executive Director Nathan Origer announced the original bids received for the project came in about $3.5 million over where the county needed them to be. Origer has been working with Tonn and Blank to review and revise the project scope in efforts to put seven or eight bid categories out to re-bid. He told both the commissioners and council on Monday, they are winding down the preliminary re-bidding process and expect to have updated architectural drawings of the project submitted by this Friday.

Origer went on to say advertising for new bids will take place via legal notice during the first two weeks of March. He added bids will be due at the CDC office by Monday, April 8 at 4 p.m. ET. He stated he intends to have commissioners open those bids that evening during the next joint session. He suggested the commissioners and council consider moving the meeting forward to accommodate for the time it may take to go through each bid.

After some discussion, the commissioners decided to schedule a special session to open new bids prior to the start of the next joint session in April. It was agreed upon to have the special session start at 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday, April 8. The commissioners plan to open new bids for the courthouse project at that time.
