The Starke County Commissioners heard an EMS update during their meeting last week.
Starke County EMS Director James Garner informed the commissioners there are no full time openings for EMTs at the moment. He added the department received two part-time applications this month and one new part-time EMT was hired. He went to say there are four full-time paramedic openings as well. Garner said the department also has gained two new drivers for their transfer truck.
It was noted the EMS Department had a total of 68 transfers out of 72 requests. Garner said they have not had any staffing issues during this time as all attention has been on taking care of transfers.
