Pulaski County Discusses Voting Machine Software

The Pulaski County Commissioners discussed purchasing software for newly acquired voting machines during their meeting last week.

Pulaski County Commission President Chuck Mellon announced the county has been given 10 voting machines from Jasper County. He went on to say the county needs to have software installed on the machines and that the software is valued at $22,300. He added the state allows counties to apply for a grant that would reimburse them on the total cost. Mellon said the grant reimbursement has already been approved by the state and if the commissioners approve the grant, the Pulaski County Council would then need to look at where they will pull the upfront costs from in order to purchase the software.

Mellon said once the council allocates the $22,300 for the purchase of the software, the state will reimburse that amount in full to the county. He entertained a motion to approve the grant for the software needed for the 10 voting machines. A motion was made and seconded. The commissioners voted unanimously approving the grant.
