Starke County Highway Department New Security Camera System Installed

The Starke County Commissioners heard an update on the newly purchased Highway Department’s security camera system during their meeting Monday.

In a previous meeting, Starke County IT Director Stanley Budd brought forth quotes from companies to the commissioners for consideration. During the following meeting, it was announced the best quote received was from Verkada. Budd stated the quote included setup, installation of 12 cameras and a five-year licensing agreement. Starke County Interim Highway Superintendent Rachel Oesterreich told WKVI News the licensing agreement provides cloud storage for the camera footage saved over the next five years. The total amount came in at $24,041.64 and the commissioners unanimously approved the purchase to come from the Cumulative Capital Development Fund.

During Monday’s meeting, Budd announced the installation is complete and the new system is fully functional. Starke County Commissioner Don Binkley stated he had stopped by the highway garage last week and noted how clear the camera footage is.
