Pulaski County Council Approves Additional Appropriation for Courthouse Project

The Pulaski County Council discussed an additional appropriation regarding the courthouse project during their meeting Monday.

During the special session earlier in the evening, the Pulaski County Commissioners opened several categories of the courthouse project that were put out to re bid. This was due to the first round of bids being roughly $3.5 million over budget. Pulaski County Community Development Commission (CDC) Executive Director Nathan Origer announced the second round of bids brought the overall price of the project within the price range estimated. He added Tonn and Blank would be reviewing those bids to make sure everything is correct.

During the Pulaski County Council meeting, an additional appropriation of $12,750,000 for the courthouse project was up for approval. It was noted even though the results from Tonn and Blank have not been received, the council could move forward with approval of the appropriation that would lock in a price not to be exceeded. Pulaski County Council President Ken Boswell made a motion to approve the additional appropriation of $12,750,000. That motion was seconded and passed by a vote with council member Tim Overmyer opposed.

Origer told WKVI News, now that the council has approved the additional appropriation, the Pulaski County Commissioners will have the final say on approving the project moving forward. He added Tonn and Blank Construction is reviewing the new bids to make sure everything looks correct and plans to bring those results to the commissioner meeting Monday, April 15.
