Starke County Commissioners and Council Hear EMS Update

The Starke County Commissioners and Council heard an EMS update during their joint session Monday.

Starke County EMS Director James Garner announced the department is operating four out of the six ambulances and had a total of 37 transfers in the month of March. He added they hired a new full-time EMT and have three applications on the waiting list. He stated they received one paramedic application and currently have four full-time paramedic openings with a fifth full-time paramedic starting in May.

Garner said the department’s ambulances are up to date on services. He stated the next ambulance to be serviced is still 1,000 miles away from needing it.
