Starke County Commissioners Discuss Bridge 137

The Starke County Commissioners discussed Bridge 137 during their meeting Monday.

Jake Dammarell of Butler, Fairman and Seufert Civil Engineering informed the commissioners they have been working on Bridge 137 for the past two years. He said the bridge is located at 300 E. over the Yellow River and is scheduled for a complete replacement. He stated it is a federally aided project and that approximately 80 percent of the project’s construction will come from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the remaining match would come from the county. He added they are now entering stage three plans of the project with approximately 90 percent of the design complete. He went on to say they are now preparing the final tracings that will be submitted to INDOT.

Dammarell said one of the requirements of their process is that the title sheet be executed by the commissioners. He said if the commissioners would approve the current engineers estimate of roughly $2 million they would be able to move on to stage three. He stated the total amount will be fine tuned as they move through the final tracings and by INDOT when they review those tracings.

Commissioner Charles Chesak made a motion to approve execution of the title sheet. Commissioner Mark Gourley seconded that motion with the commissioners unanimously approving the motion by vote.
