Pulaski County Commissioners Hear from Boy Scout Troop 229

The Pulaski County Commissioners heard from local466 Boy Scout Troop 229 during their meeting Monday.

Troop 229 Assistant Scoutmaster Stacy Nichols announced two scouts were present at the meeting to observe the commissioners in part for their citizenship in the community merit badge. Nichols said this is the 74th year troop 229 has been part of the local community. He stated last year they had conducted 17 service projects accumulating roughly 1,000 hours of community service. It was mentioned they help place flags on graves with the VFW, they clean up the town park, paint fire hydrants and have done many service projects within Pulaski County for scouts working on their Eagle Scout project.

Nichols formally asked the commissioners to consider reaching out to the scout troop if there are any projects they would like to see done in the future. He added many of the requirements in scouting involve community service and they are always looking for opportunities to do to just that. Nichols stated he isn’t necessarily asking the commissioners for more projects but if they or the community know of projects that are available involving clean-up, conservation or helping out other community organizations, they would be very interested in getting involved.
