The Starke County Commissioners and Council discussed meeting procedure during their joint session Monday.
Starke County Council President Dave Pearman stated traditionally both the council and the commissioners have taken public comments or questions at the end of each meeting rather than allowing time after each discussed topic. He announced that both the council and the commissioners have jointly decided to revert back to that procedure. He went on to say the reasoning behind this decision is to be cognizant of the individuals that are on the agenda to address the council or commissioners.
Pearman stated in terms of timing, these individuals are following the agenda and are expecting to be ready at their scheduled time. He stated, when a topic takes longer than expected due to too many questions, that makes it hard to get to the business portion of their meetings.
Pearman stated if individuals would like to be on the official agenda to speak with the council or commissioners during their meetings, they are invited to contact the Starke County Auditor’s Office at least 48 hours in advance of a scheduled meeting. The Starke County Auditor’s Office can be contacted at 574-772-9101.
