Starke County voters cast their ballots in a number of contested races during the Primary Election on Tuesday, May 7.
In the race for Starke County Treasurer, candidate Kelly Graham won the Republican nomination over Lauri Anne Manns Venkus.
In the Primary race for Starke County Commissioner District 1, Michael VanDeMark received the most votes over candidates incumbent Mark Gourley and Anthony Tony Black. Lonnie Boley is the only Democratic candidate that ran and will go up against VanDeMark in the General Election this November. Republican Charles R. Chesak retained his seat over competitor Debbie Wappel for the District 3 seat. No Democratic candidates ran in the Primary Election for that position.
When it comes to County Council At-Large on the Democrat ticket, Kasey Bula Clark, Ronald Parker and Robert M. Snowden were chosen as the three representatives to go up against Republicans in November. The three Republicans they will go up against are Bill R. Crase Jr., E. Todd Leinbach and Kay Gudeman.
In the State Representative races for Districts 8 and 20 on the Republican ticket, Starke County voters cast the most votes for Mike Bohacek and Jim Pressel, respectively.
Individuals who won Starke County’s race for the Republican State Convention Delegates include Bernadette Welter-Manuel, Mandy Thomason, Anthony Tony Black, Spencer England, Mark Gourley, Cathy Hensell, Wayne Feece, Lauri Manns Venkus.
